U:HAC 3.0 Mobile and Web App Digital Banking Solution Project Winners

Did you know that UnionBank has been at the forefront of this digital revolution as it is one of the first Banks in the Philippines that has embraced digital early on in its operations?

The U:HAC 3.0 2016 UNIONBANK Hackathon and Convention is another project of the bank to find the most creative and innovative solutions in the digital world. The event was held at 47/F Unionbank Plaza, Meralco Avenue, Ortigas Center, Pasig City from 9:00AM of 26th until 6:00PM of 27th day of this month.

The event was participated by all Junior and Senior students who are taking Information Technology, Computer Science, Multi Media Arts, Gaming and Design, Banking and Finance, Marketing and even Professionals, Freelancers, Analysts, Designers, Communication, Marketing and Customer Service Executives and Business Consultants who want to showcase their knowledge and expertise on digital technology.

All participants were divided into  three (3) groups to do the preliminary pitching.

U:HAC 3.0 GRAND WINNER TEAM INTERN WITH A MOBILE AND WEB APP CALLED HOOLEH. Intern won UHAC 3.0 with a mobile and web app called Holleh. This app also provides digital banking for the driver that has been arrested for traffic violation(s). He/she can pay to unionbank for the violation/s.

UHAC 3.0 Grand winner from PUP. Team Intern is composed of BSIT 4th Year students from PUP. The team wins the Grand Prize and eligible to double its prize winning from Php 80,000.00 to Php 160,000.00. The project presented is related to banking products, services, processes, &/or channels and in the area of Current Banking Practices, Digital Banking, or Banking in the Future.

UHAC 3.0 2nd placer is Fleepin with a mobile app called Qardless. It aims to make ATM transactions easier. Users can conveniently access their ATM cash both withdraw and deposit through a specialize machine or with the help of other Qardless users. They took home P60,000 Cash!

Regenera8 (Regenerate) got the 3rd place award. With a mobile gamified banking application which allows parents to set “chores” to their children in order for them to earn their allowance, they will be able to store their money electronically to be saved away in their “Vault” or to create a wish list to save to towards item. Congrats to a two-man/woman team!

The winners used any of the Bank’s APIs through Bluemix or any of the Visa APIs but it is not a requirement to be eligible for the Double the Grand Prize option.

Likewise, use of any of the Bank’s APIs or any of the Visa APIs shall not automatically make the team/project eligible for the Double the Grand Prize Option.
