TWO APPLES CARVED LIKE DOVES

Carving of fruits is a form of arts and craft. It involves cutting, slicing and shaping to create designs and figure-like such as doves, flowers and other related designs.

Did you know that I am simple art lover?

In fact, the art of my mother who carved two (2) apples into figure-like doves decided me to blog it in my site.  She is not a professional with regards to carving of fruits and vegetables but had attended seminars before that could also help for the designs or decorations to her food recipes, menus, buffets and the like for any related occasions.

She carved the image above last December 2010 for my brother’s wedding. In fact, my parents was also in-charged for the catering services of that wonderful occasion. 🙂

Everyone of us has its own gifts and talents that should be share to others for a common benefit.

THE DECORATED GINGERBREAD MAN AND WOMAN

One of the gifts that I have received during the season of December 2010 was a decorated “Gingerbread Man and Woman.”

Through internet research, the Gingerbread figural biscuit-making was practiced in the 16th century and its first documentation was appeared in the court of Elizabeth I of England which was made and presented in the likeness of some of her important guests.

The Gingerbread Man and Woman was made with a soft molasses and ginger cookie decorated with gum drops, icing, chocolate and raisins.

The maker of this gingerbread has considered the quality and artistry of the product which decided  me to make a documentation and posting it in my blog. For me, this is the best gingerbread I’ve ever tasted. I like dark cookies indeed.

In fact, this article was written just  to show my great appreciation to the person who  gave  this valuable gift.
