Converse’s “Get Loud” crowned the band “Even” as the first-ever winner in the “loudest” music competition of the year

The Converse’s “Get Loud,” the song-writing competition and musical showdown crowned the band Even from North Luzon of its first-ever winner among the five semi-pro bands in the country.

With great performance, the country’s first “Get Loud” champ, Even from Baguio City take home the grand prize of P150,000 of cash and Converse products. The band also garnered the most votes winning the People’s Choice Award.

EVEN
Composed of Dyanne Licudine (vocals), Jam Bumanglag (guitars), Coco Saupan (bass) and Dan Allan Acosta (drums), Even from North Luzon is a Baguio-based band that describes their music as “dark and melancholic.” They take pride for their songs for their “well thought-out lyrics woven into heavy chugs and bass, unisoned into drumlines.” The Even performed they original song “Luminary.”

Bethany of Visayas, particularly Cebu, won the first runner up awarded with a cash price of P100,000 and converse products.

BETHANY
Bethany is composed of Luis Quibranza III (lead vocals and guitar), Angelo Quibranza (lead guitar and vocals), Paolo Miguel Quibranza (drums and vocals) and Kevin Borromeo (bass). The band takes pride in their delivery of alternative rock music that has “a lot of curve balls, intense guitar work, smart lyrics and infectious melodies.” Bethany performed their original song “Keep Moving On.”

While, Jad Montenegro from Mindanao, was awarded second runner-up with a cash price of P60,000 and Converse products.

JAD MONTENEGRO
Jad Montenegro (lead vocalist). Completing the band are Dave Ibao (guitar and backing vocals), Eric Luzada (lead guitar), Pjoe Sabanpan (bass) and Carlo Garcia (drums, backing vocals). They performed their original song “The Escapist.”

Lastly, the Brisom from NCR and Kissbone from South Luzon was awarded with P40,000 of cash and Converse products for third and fourth runner-ups, respectively.

BRISOM
Brisom, from NCR, is composed of Brian Sombero (vocals and guitar), Jeffrey Castro (drums and beats), Jason Rondero (bass), Tim Abbott (synthesizer and keys) and Terence Teves (guitar). Most of Brisom’s songs are based on Brian’s “soul-changing travels and life-changing realizations,’ capturing the sound of soulful indie rock with “straightforward clarity” and “lyrics from the heart.’ They performed “Waking Lives”
KISSBONE
Kissbone is composed of Armin Joseph Pepito (guitar and vocals), Justine Sioson (guitar and vocals), Renz Jerome Villanueva (drums), Parker Cataquian (bass) and Allan Paulo Luching (rhythm guitar). Beginning with punk rock to emo-screamo genre during their days at Sienna College Taytay. They perfromed “Distance and Motion.”

The strength of their music judged with the percentage points (composition with 30 percent and musicality with 25 percent) but they also judged on their live performance (25 percent). The remaining 20 percent is based on online votes; the band that has garnered the most votes will walk away with the People’s Choice Award.

Gear Up for Solo’s Online Model Search 2013 Featuring Kikomachine!

Ever dream of becoming a model, but too shy and intimidated to go through all those go-see’s? This is your chance! Solo, being a front runner of innovative ideas, invites you to its SOLO ONLINE MODEL SEARCH 2014.

The coveted modeling competition started back in 2009 and has been successful ever since. Yearly, close to 100 model poster entries are submitted to Solo’s site , which allows viewers to vote for their fave model. The 2012 grand winners, Ganiel Krishnan and Derek Espinosa, both had the chance to play out their modeling dreams with last year’s Online Model Search featuring Tonton Young’s Pupung. Past featured collections include Tony Velasquez’s Kenkoy, Larry Alcala’s Slice of Life. Solo’s Online Model Search is ingeniously launched with its Pinoy Cartoonist Memorabilia Series as contestants are tasked to wear one item from the featured collection and model it in their photo entries. Past featured collections include Tony Velasquez’s Kenkoy, Larry Alcala’s Slice of Life and Tonton Young’s Pupung. This year, it’s all about Manix Abrera’s Kikomachine. Men and women’s apparel ranging from t-shirts, collared tees and shorts are all dawned with graphic images of Kikomachine’s trademark cartoons and beloved characters.

Running on its 5th year, Solo’s  much-anticipated modeling competition starts on August 15, 2013. Contestants, male or female, should submit photo entries of themselves modeling one (1) item from Solo’s Pinoy Cartoonist Memorabilia Series featuring Manix Abrera’s Kikomachine while adhering to the theme: Street Life. Photo entries must also include at least one of the design elements found in the design pack which contestants can download at solo.com.ph. Contestants must then log on to Facebook and upload their entries, all of which will be screened by our moderators, through the Solo Online Model Search App/Tab. Entries can be submitted until October 15, 2013 but voting of all approved entries will last until October 27, 2013. The contest is open to Filipino citizens at least 16 years old. Contestants below 18 years old must submit a parental consent form before joining which they can send via e-mail. Remember to focus on creativity, photo layout and styling! After the contest period, 20 finalists (Top 10 males and Top 10 females) will be chosen and invited for an interview. Solo is on the hunt for one male and one female with the most photogenic appeal and the best personality fit for representing the brand. These two individuals will be deemed as grand winners by our panel of judges and will each win cash prizes, gift certificates and of course, bragging rights as they see their images in all Solo stores! Their partner photographers/graphic artists will be receiving cash prizes as well. Model grand winners will also get the privilege to do two photoshoots for Solo’s 2014 campaigns with one of the best photographers in the business, Doc Marlon.
